Accessible Parking

The Capitol has wheelchair accessible restrooms, ramps and elevators.

Accessible drop off at the Capitol is available at the Bank Street entrance (1000 Bank Street, Richmond, VA). Drivers can enter Bank Street via 12th or 14th Street, pull up to the Capitol Visitor Entrance, unload passengers, and continue to their parking destination. Pick-up can happen in the same manner at the end of a visit.

Those who need accessibility accommodations and are arriving via a passenger vehicle can call (804) 698-1788 and arrange for drop-off inside Capitol Square.

Public Parking

Paid parking for Capitol Square visitors is available from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday in excluding state holidays the 9th and Franklin Street Parking Deck. Parking rates (credit or debit card only) are $5/hour or $20/day. This parking deck can be accessed by heading North on 9th street after turning onto or crossing Main Street. Immediately after the Bank Street stop light the parking deck entrance is on the left. The first pedestrian entrance to the grounds, which is ADA accessible, is opposite the parking deck on 9th street at the historic Capitol Bell Tower. Map of the Parking Facility

Bus and other Large Multiple-Passenger Vehicles

  • Buses, tour groups and other large multiple-passenger vehicles can load/unload passengers at 1000 Bank Street, Richmond, VA.
  • Bank Street must be accessed via 12th or 14th Street; the loading zone is in a one-way traffic area.
  • Due to construction on Bank Street, space is limited in this area. Please pull up close to the Capitol Visitor Center entrance to load and unload.
  • After loading/unloading, exit via 10th Street. Parking is available at the Department of General Services Fleet lot, located at 2400 West Leigh Street, Richmond, VA

  • Individuals who need accessibility accommodations and are arriving via a passenger vehicle can call (804) 389-5338 and arrange for drop-off inside Capitol Square.

Group leaders will need to have direct phone or text communication with their drivers, since buses will not be able to park on or next to Capitol Square.
